Too Many Drivers Lowell Fulson Guitar Lesson by Johnny Burgin

Too Many Drivers is a perfect blues song. Just the drum part alone needs to make a comeback! Lowell's singing and playing just can't be beat. Get out your thumbpicks! I love his biting tone, combined with how relaxed and flowing he is compared to modern players 'shredding the blues'. This was originally a Big Bill Broonzy song, the record credits it to Smoky Hogg who I think was the first person to remake it. But like Little Milton's version of "Feel So Bad", Lowell's strong, stripped-down shuffle 1964 Kent records version has become the definative template for modern versions from Paul Butterfield, Hollywood Fats, Luther Guitar Jr Johnson, Tab Benoit, Pat Ramsey and on and on. I love the way Lowell plays his changes with that bend on the B string into the major 3rd of the IV chord, among other wonderful trademarks.
