Willie Nix Try Me One More Time Guitar Lesson by Johnny Burgin

Like Sonny Boy Williamson (both of em for that matter), Willie Nix's impish personality seems to jump right out of his records. All of his sides are gems (I'll come back later to his smokin' "Just Can't Stay" ft Eddie Taylor) and his 1951 debut 78 of "Try Me One More Time/Lonesome Bedroom Blues set the standard. With five solos by Willie Johnson (check out my earlier lesson/chat on his sides with Howlin Wolf), each one more inspired than the next, there's a lot to talk about in this lesson. It's not totally note for note but I do hope this will get you started on his swinging chords, aggressive attitude, and his always inventive lead playing. Willie plays a great drum pattern on this one and is just a great drummer on all his recordings. I hope if he's new to you, you'll check out the various YouTube playlists of his material.
