Hi everyone! It's weekend! Time for a brand new video. Today we take a ride on a ICM train running from Amsterdam via Schiphol to Den Haag due to construction works at Amsterdam Zuid and Schiphol Airport. Only 50% of the capacity is available at Schiphol Airport. So the slightest delay will cause a traffic jam. Let's see what this ride will bring! Oh, and there's a bonus in the video. We will take an empty train from Den Haag to Leidschendam shunting yard. And get a basic side wash for that sprinter as well. Enjoy the ride! 0:00 Amsterdam Centraal It's early in the morning and the sun is only just up. It's very cloudy and cold outside. Typical Dutch autumn weather. We depart right on time from Amsterdam. A fan is outside on the platform waving to you. Make sure to wave back! 5:50 Amsterdam Sloterdijk The first part of the journey is the same as we always take with the Intercity Direct running to Rotterdam. Normally this intercity does run via Amsterdam Zuid. But due to construction works that line is closed for two full weeks. Many train are diverted via Amsterdam Centraal to Schiphol. Every 3-5 minutes trains depart in every direction between Schiphol and Amsterdam. So the slightest delay will cause problems. Just after Sloterdijk we encounter the first signal that lets us hit the brakes of the train. There are a total of four trains ahead of us until Schiphol. We even encounter a red light a bit further. 11:27 Amsterdam Lelylaan With a four minute delay we pass by Amsterdam Lelylaan. The trains ahead are now all continuing to Schiphol as well. Just before entering Schiphol you'll see the workers doing their job on the tracks on the left side of the train. Those two tracks are out of order for trains. 15:21 Schiphol Airport Arriving at the Airport with a four minute delay. You can see the train that was running ahead of us on the other side of the platform. That's the Intercity Direct to Rotterdam. A bit further in the tunnel is still a delayed sprinter running towards Hoofddorp. After departure from the Airport you'll see how many trains are planned after each other in one direction. After the Intercity Direct has cleared our path we can depart with a 5 minute delay. 22:18 Hoofddorp Just after Hoofddorp you'll see the shunting yard on the left. Also this is where we entered the HSL on the video from two weeks ago. But now we take a 'right' turn towards Leiden. 24:54 Nieuw Vennep Between Nieuw Vennep and Sassenheim I'll contact the train dispatcher of Leiden to request if the Intercity towards Dordrecht can be hold for a few minutes to our passengers will make the connection. Now let's change trains because there's a bonus on board this video. Time to drive empty stock towards Leidschendam and get a basic side wash for that train. 44:52 Empty Stock Uncoupled When I arrived at the next train on my schedule the train was already uncoupled. Now we only have to wait until the passenger train to Amsterdam has departed and then we have a clear path towards Leidschendam. 50:20 Voorburg 51:04 Den Haag Ypenburg At Ypenburg we change tracks and then head towards Leidschendam. Over the bridge with a very sharp turn as you can see. I always slowdown the the train at this point so it won't make too much noise for the neighborhood. 57:53 Getting Permission + Washing Train Because Leidschendam is a hand operated yard we must get permission to pass the S-sign by contacting the train dispatcher by phone. After he gave us permission we are allowed give this train a basic side wash. The trains won't be perfectly clean, but the windows will be clear again. 1:03:05 Setting Junctions Because the yard is hand operated I must set the junction to their correct position as well. 1:06:02 Movement Finished After arrival at the destination we must call the train dispatcher to confirm out train movement is now finished.
