Train Cab Ride NL / Time to FLIRT! / Dordrecht - 's-Hertogenbosch / FLIRT Sprinter / February 2023

Hi everyone! Welcome on board a brand new Train Cab Ride! This time another first timer on my channel. A ride on the FLIRT. I’m permitted to drive these trains since a few months and this was the second day driving it. :) The weather is pretty Dutch and gives us grey skies with a temperature around 10 degrees Celsius. Enjoy the ride! 0:00 Dordrecht We start the ride in Dordrecht. Today we drive the Sprinter towards ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Due to shortage on staff there’s no train manager on board the train. The planners asked if I would be able to take the train with me on my own with passengers on board. I agreed with that. This means I’m now also responsible for the departure procedure at all the stops we make. Just after departure from Dordrecht you can see the line towards Geldermalsen splitting up to the left. We take a right turn to the south of the country in the Breda direction. 3:03 Dordrecht Zuid First stop on the route. The southern station of Dordrecht. After this stop we continue towards Lage Zwaluwe. This line doesn’t have a lot of stops on our way to ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Not as much as we do have around the bigger cities. 8:49 Moerdijkbrug Just before Lage Zwaluwe we pass the Moerdijkbrug. On the right side you can see the bridge that is built for the high speed line to the Belgium border. Always a stunning view. 10:39 Lage Zwaluwe Did you know Lage Zwaluwe is known as one of the most terrible stations in our country? There’s pretty much nothing here. People who live here must travel far to get to the station. And it’s always windy. ;) Hopefully the future of this station will be a bit brighter. Just after Lage Zwaluwe you can see the tracks bending to the right towards Roosendaal. And on the left side a track towards industrial terrain for freight trains. 18:20 Breda Prinsenbeek In all my other video’s on this part of the line we pass this station on high speed with the Intercity Direct. Now this is the first time ever I have stopped here. The signal at the end of the platform is red because of the level crossing in the curved track ahead. As soon as our train stops that level crossing gets activated for our train and the signals gives a better light. 21:52 Breda With a small delay we arrive at Breda. This because there was a delayed Intercity from Brussels crossing our path with a 3 minute delay. Not much to worry about as you can see. We depart perfectly on time from Breda again. 31:54 Gilze-Rijen Just before this station there’s a temporary speed limit we must slow down for. Important for the driver to remember the temporary speed limit on departure as well. Just after the station we’re allowed to drive on normal speed again. The temporary situation is because of a faulty track. 36:24 Tilburg Reeshof Three Tilburg stations coming up! 39:41 Young Spotter Waving! Hello to a brand new young train enthusiast! 40:21 Tilburg Universiteit Just after departure from this station there’s a cut in the video because of a bird strike on the window. After I whipped it clean we’re back with the camera. Skipped a few hundred meters on the video for it. Sorry for that. ;) 42:44 Tilburg The main station of Tilburg. Really love the architecture of this station! After departure from Tilburg I update my passengers about the fact the next station is our final call because of shortage on staff. Normally this train continues towards Nijmegen, but today it unfortunately can’t. 56:29 ‘s-Hertogenbosch Just before the final stop I remember by passengers about the terminal station. And we’re also driving behind an intercity that is slightly delayed. Therefor you’ll see some yellow signals after each other and we’ll have a slow arrival at our final station. With a 2 minute delay we reach ‘s-Hertogenbosch. I hope you enjoyed this first FLIRT video on my channel. Let me know what you think of it. See you back in two weeks!
