Hi everyone and welcome on board a brand new Train Cab Ride! This time a special ride on the oldest sprinter we still have in service until the end of 2021. And we do not take this ride with passengers on board, but on a train that needs to be brought to the maintenance yard Leidschendam! Enjoy the ride and make sure to have your umbrella ready at the washing box! 0:00 Amsterdam Centraal We depart one minute late from Amsterdam Central Station because I had to help out some lost passengers on the platform. Off we go! Because trains are already waiting to enter the station due to this delay. 4:06 Amsterdam Sloterdijk Because we are not traveling with passenger we get to pass by all stations on the route. Normally all trains stop at Amsterdam Sloterdijk, so I make sure to warn passenger as we pass on full speed. 7:10 Halfweg-Zwanenburg Just after Halfweg we must slow down the train. We're back on schedule and now traveling behind the sprinter train towards Haarlem. 11:35 Haarlem Spaarnwoude 13:59 Haarlem Time to pass one of the oldest stations in the country. Al signals are now green, so we can pass through the station without the need to stop. 18:10 Heemstede-Aerdenhout 21:50 Hillegom 22:51 Temporary Speed Limit Here's our temporary speed limit again. This is done because of the unguarded farm railway crossover sometimes being used by heavy machines. All those unguarded crossover will be taken away in time. 24:23 Lisse 28:24 Voorhout 31:06 Leiden Centraal (ATB Failure) At passing Leiden Centraal we get a faulty signal on the ATB system. This system gave me a maximum speed of 40km/h for a few seconds. Because of this we must drive on sigh until the next main signal. Afterwards we report this issue to the train dispatcher. 34:26 De Vink 36:12 Voorschoten 39:07 Den Haag Mariahoeve 39:56 Den Haag Laan van NOI 41:18 Den Haag HS Arriving at Den Haag HS. Here we are lead to a shunting track allowing us to change direction. Shunting yard Leidschendam cannot be driven to directly from Leiden as you will see in the next few minutes. 43:02 Changing Trains Direction A quick picture from the inside of the train as we walk to the other side. 45:45 Shunting Yard Binckhorst (typo in video) This is the shunting yard used for most trains at starting / ending at the Den Haag area. We take our train further to Leidschendam where most of our sprinter are being maintained. 48:11 Voorburg 48:55 Den Haag Ypenburg 52:45 Picture Time! A short stopover at Den Haag Ypenburg (shunting track) because there's another sprinter coming our way from the shunting yard. Only one track available to the yard, so better we wait for a few. 54:17 Entering Leidschendam Time to enter the yard at Leidschendam. A slow ride due to the sharp turns. 59:50 Getting Permission to shunt At Leidschendam you see the yellow signal flashing. This means we must drive on sight from that moment on. This signal can't show a normal yellow signal in this case because there's not much space until the next stopping sign. At the S-sign we must get permission from the train dispatcher Leidschendam by phone. After this we are allowed to take the train via track 707 and 706 to track 8a where the next stopping sign is located. 1:01:07 Quick wash! When entering the yard at Leidschendam most of the time the quick train wash is active. We are allowed to take the train through the washing box at 20km/h. Just a quick side wash. 1:03:36 Switching Junction! Before we arrive at track 8a we must switch over a junction. And then stop before the next S-sign. From there a shunter gets on board for the last part to the workshop. 1:05:22 Entering Workshop with shunter! I put some music under the video because of the privacy of my colleague.
