I’m starting here a new series of videos about Whiskies I have awarded in my recent « Highlights of the Year 2023 (Whisky & Other Spirits) » video. I will review 1 to 3 bottles maximum (tasting wise), with a more or less short presentation, a bit of a historical context, and, as much as possible, less than 30/40 mn. I’m starting here with the limited 2023 release of ARMORIK 15 yo, a French single-malt whisky from the Brittany region & from the Warenghem distillery, the pioneer of all whisky distilleries of France, before the millenium... As a quick tasting reminder, prior to this 15 yo tasting, I am also revisiting the ARMORIK « Classic », a freshly opened last bottle of the circa 2011 amazing release (matured only in refill Bourbon barrels at that time) I reviewed in the past...both whiskies being distilled around the same time with peated malt... -ARMORIK 15 y.o.*, « Edition limitée 2023 » (limited release, 2023), matured 10 years in Bourbon barrels & then finished 5 years in 3 different casks & cask types : 75 % refill Sherry, 16 % 1st fill Sherry/American oak, and 9 % in Sherry/Spanish oak, lightly peated, non-chill filtered & non coloured, 46 % abv. * = More & exclusive infos in the video about this release...Disclaimer : Apologies to the viewer & to the distillery, as it was my mistake during the video to consider it was a full matured sherry, while it is double-matured ; I completely forgot…I also forgot to talk about its price, usually 95 € in France, and cheaper in Germany. Armorik whiskies are distributed by the Penderyn distillery shop in UK, but also by other retailers (The Whisky Exchange, etc.). PS : A Youtuber’s foot was injured by the fallon it of a bottle of French whisky from another distillery during the preparation of this video...An occult jealousy act ? We’ll never know, but it hurts !
