I don’t know how comfort food became defined by fried chicken, chocolate cake, mac and cheese, lasagna, and meatloaf. I love all of those foods, but I find comfort in the act of making food, not just consuming it. When I am [insert emotion here] and want to indulge that feeling or transform it, I cook simple foods that reward bigly, that remind me of caring for another or being cared for by someone who loves me.
