I've been thinking a lot lately about the ways that powers and organizations demand from those within their ranks. When your cthonic overlords come to you for tribute, remember Cartwright. My first idea, a more comedic and dynamic animation focusing on a princess and the creature in her family's dungeon grew so much in scope that the odds of finishing it were beyond me. Electing instead to lean into my grim tendencies rather than away, I added gothic set dressing to the partially built castle dining room and returned to the drawing board.
