Carlo Vinci (February 27th, 1906 - September 30th, 1993) was an American animator who spent the majority of his career animating on cartoons at the MGM and Terrytoons studios. In 1957, when the heads of the MGM cartoon department, Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera, lost their jobs after the department’s permanent shutdown, they went into their own business, creating cartoons for TV on low budgets. Needing staff for their new studio, Bill and Joe raided the just-laid-off crew at MGM and lured them over to their studio - and Vinci was one of those people. Vinci’s Hanna-Barbera animation is some of the fullest and funniest done at the studio. When zipping out of a scene, Carlo will have the character leave a spinning wheel of drybrush behind them. His Fred Flintstone has a raggedy and dirty look to him, with tufts of hair all over his scalp. All clips in this reel are scenes of Carlo Vinci’s Hanna-Barbera animation done from 1958-1963 (with one clip from 1965). Sorry on the low quality on the Quick Draw McGraw clips - those cartoons have never been released on DVD, and I had to find old TV rips to work with. The Wally Gator clips (Ice Cube Boob and Sea Sick Pals) were sourced from VERY low quality TV rips as well, so I had trouble working with those too. Again, I apologize about that.
