Photo Deconstruction: Natural Light Rainbow Effect Portrait

In this week's photo deconstruction I’m going to show you how to get creative with natural light using a simple and inexpensive DIY tool for a beautiful rainbow effect. ------ ☀️ Speaking of natural light, be sure to check out my lighting recipe e-book that consists of 20 different natural light setups designed to spark your creativity, and have you outside making wonderful images in no time! Check it out here: https://lindsayadler.photo/natural-li... ------ In-Camera Effects: For this shoot I used natural light sunlight (sunny day required!) to provide the ingredients I needed for this special effect. I placed the subject in shade with a rainbow suncatcher just out of frame in order to project rainbow patterns across the model's face. I placed a white V-flat directly behind her head to create a clean background for a high-key look Camera Settings: I'm shooting with a Canon EOS R. I usually choose my mirrorless camera when I go out on location because in this case, I'm shooting with an 85mm at 2.0 with those wide apertures. I use face and eye tracking so I can shoot really wide while still having a nice sharp focus on the eyes. Post Processing: Overall the shot looked a tiny bit washed out, so I darkened it down a bit in Capture One. The areas that needed cleaning up the most were a little bit around the eyes, but a few blemishes on the forehead and then stray hair, really just needed minimal changes. For that I brought it over into Photoshop and cleaned everything up. I love this image because it still feels like my style. It's creative, but it was all achieved with natural light. If you're not a studio shooter and you think you can't experiment with lighting, well, think again! And a special shout out to the super talented and kind @jonsams for showing me this awesome technique!
