Here Comes The Mud! - North East Cyclo-Cross League Rnd 6 - 4th Nov 2023

It's been a while since I posted a 'Cyclo-cross for the over-60s' video following cancellations due to weather and a sense that there may be little left to say until summing up the experience in a couple of weeks' time, at the end of what's a very brief season. Also, I'd lost the mojo somewhat but as there were a couple more videos 'in the can', so to speak, here's the first of them. This NECCL meeting at Gateshead was much anticipated as it was obvious there was going to be a fair bit of mud (the stuff gives the sport its distinct identity) in the wake of a spell of stormy weather that had cancelled the previous meetings. I'd also double-booked the weekend with a CXNE race at nearby South Shields the following day and was questioning the wisdom of that within 24 hours. The mud was there on the day, in the quantities expected, though I've had to deal with more since then, as the weather has been fairly grim through the back half of November. Now that we're in December I'm looking forward to the festive season of 'cross on the box by which time I'll be finished.
