North East Cyclo-Cross League (NECCL) Round 4 - 14th October 2023

I don’t think I’ve mentioned yet that the NECCL is a lower key way to get into cyclo-cross here in North East England. It's held under the auspices of TLI Cycling in contrast to Cyclo-Cross North East (CXNE) events which are administered by British Cycling. Organisation, infrastructure and categories are simpler and the events themselves less formal. Lack of commentary or podium presentations are notable omissions, though the events don’t suffer from it. They’re a lot cheaper to enter too. They’re held, typically, on the Saturday while CXNE events tend to be held on Sundays, making some weekends busier than others. This then, is a short commentary - made at my wife’s insistence - of my fifth outing at the fourth NECCL venue for the 23-24 season, held on a lovely, if windy, day in early autumn. Embarrassingly, I omitted to say on the video that my Durham City Velo club-mate Mark, had a good race, finishing 10th despite his barrier incident!
