Viparita Karani or Viparita Karani Mudra Viparita = Opposite, Karani = action Viparita Karani or legs up the wall pose is considered either as an asana or a mudra in haṭha yoga. It is a simplified version of sarvangasana Also known as: Upside-down seal, Leg up Pose / Legs-up-the-wall pose Pose type: Restorative, inverted action posture Preparatory Phase - Do warm up and stretching for 10 minutes Steps 1. Lay down in supine position, lying on the back in a relaxed way. 2. Place the hands on the floor next to the side the body and breathe normally. 3. Inhale and raise both the legs straight ( without bending at knees) slowly upward and bring it to 90° angle and then to 45° 4. Lift the hip and support it with the palms by placing the elbows on the floor, then make the legs straight at 90° vertically in place. 5. Look at the toes and maintain gap between chest and neck or chin 6. Do for 30 – 60 seconds in the beginning, with normal breathing, and relax in Shavasana. 7. Later, it can be done for 3 – 5 minutes every day as regular practice, the up to 10-15 minutes.
