Photo Deconstruction: Vikings Inspired Engagement Photo Shoot

In this video I deconstruct how I created a Vikings inspired engagement shoot. When I create portraits, I like to showcase something more about my subjects than how they look — I try to show their hobbies, their passions or something insightful. I had already done a ‘normal’ engagement session of my friends Ashley and Steve so we decided to have a bit of fun. They love the History Channel show Vikings, so we decided to create an engagement portrait that embodied those characters. I lit the image with three strobes: a main light, background light, and fill light. In post-processing I added a lot of warmth, greens and clarity to the shot for color grading.
