Photo Deconstruction: Vintage Beauty Image with Budget Styling

In this video I break down how I use a $10 hat from Amazon to create an image that has a timeless vintage feel with graphic elements. To create the vintage look, I used a hard light source (magnum reflector) as my main light, but added a sock (diffusion material) to even out the specularity (highlights). The inexpensive hat was clamped onto a stand behind the subject’s head to help create the more graphic shape, since it flopped a lot when it was worn like a typical hat. I converted the image to black and white in Adobe Camera Raw, while popping the highlights and contrast to create this graphic vintage aesthetic.
