LBS Dry Fix Ridge Tile Installation

LBS offer a range of universal angle clay ridge tiles which can be dry fixed. These include the LBS Universal Angle ridge and associated Hip ridge, which are both 450mm long. There is also the LBS Universal Capped Angle ridge tile which is 450mm long. Finally, there is the LBS Snowdon ridge tile which is 350mm long. Firstly, you must fit a 50mm by 50mm batten on top of the ridge line. This will allow for the mechanical ridge fixing to be secured into place. Once the ridge batten has been fitted into place, you must then choose the type of ventilation roll you require. LBS offer two types of ventilated ridge roll and both come in 6m lengths. There is the LBS ventilated ridge roll and the LBS copper ventilated ridge roll. Both types of ridge roll will provide the same level of ridge ventilation, allowing for 5mm of continuous ventilation along both sides of the ridge line once fitted. The standard ridge roll sits flush with the edge of your chosen ridge tile. The copper ridge roll has a strip of copper which will project between 30mm to 50mm below the end of your ridge tile. When rainwater interacts with the copper strip it produces a copper sulphate solution which washes down your roof and will keep it clean. You must always make sure that the surface of your slate or tile is clean and dry before you stick down the adhesive tape on the back of the ventilated ridge roll. You can then fit your chosen LBS clay ridge tile into place along the ridge line. Punch through the blank fixing hole on top of your ridge tile to allow for the mechanical fixing to be secured into the ridge batten you have installed previously. The LBS ridge fixing method complies with the relevant standards which require the ridge tiles to be mechanically fixed. This eliminates the need for any mortar.
