Welcome to my vintage cookbook YouTube channel! In search of Christmas pie recipes? Give this White Christmas Pie Recipe a go if you're looking for something a little different! This Christmas coconut pie comes to us from the Farm Journal Christmas Idea Book, the 1972 edition. Have yourself a Very Vintage Holiday! INSTAGRAM: instagram.com/_cookingthebooks_ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHITE CHRISTMAS PIE RECIPE 1 envelope plus 1t unflavored gelatin 1/4c cold water 1/4c sugar 1/4c flour 1/2t salt 1.5c milk 1/2c candied fruit, chopped fine and rolled in powdered sugar 1.5c heavy cream 1/4c sugar 1t vanilla extract 1/4t almond extract 1c flaked coconut, plus extra for garnish 1 baked 9" pie shell Soften gelatin in cold water Combine 1/4c sugar, flour, and salt in saucepan. Add mill gradually and cook, stirring, until mixture is thickened and smooth. Remove from heat; stir in gelatin until melted. Chill until mixture starts to set . In a separate bowl, beat heavy cream with 1/4c sugar. Set aside. Beat gelatin mixture until smooth. Stir in vanilla, almond extract, and candied fruit. Fold in whipped cream and 1c flaked coconut. Pour mixture into pie shell and smooth. Garnish with additional flaked coconut. Chill until firmly set - overnight is best.
