Nicolaus Bruhns (1665-1697) was only 31 years old when he died. Just one generation older than J.S.Bach, they shared the same teacher: D. Buxtehude. Almost all the compositions of this super talented musicisn are lost, among 5 compositions for organ. We owe J.S.Bach for their survival. Bach most probably copied them during his stay in Lüneburg, probably from scores owned by the organist Georg Böhm. The organ composition left are no less than stunning. Here I play the big E minor Prelude, where Bruhns demonstrates all aspects of the Stylus Phantasticus. This recorded is made in 1997.
