DRIVING THE FULLY COMPLETED NEW FLYOVER SYSTEM IN COLOMBO 3 / COLOMBO 2

This video is essentially an extension of a previous video I posted in April 2024 on the 1st phase of this flyover system. Here's the link in case you missed that video    • DRIVING THE BRAND NEW FLYOVER IN COLO...   In April the 1st segment of this new flyover system was inaugurated connecting Sri Uttarananda Mawatha to the junction in front of Cinnamon Life, along with a brand new roundabout. The 2nd segment was expected to be completed in September, but was completed earlier than planned and was inaugurated yesterday, the 11th of July, 2024. This 2nd flyover connects Justice Akbar Mawatha in Colombo 2, to the new roundabout in front of Cinnamon Life, and the flyover that runs along Sri Uttarananda Mawatha in Colombo 3 that was unveiled earlier in April. The purpose of these flyovers is to allow vehicles to bypass the railway crossings in and around the Slave Island (Kompanyaweediya) Railway Station. However, one strange design element I noticed was that the flyover connecting Justice Akbar Mawatha to the new roundabout is only one way. You can only drive from Justice Akbar Mawatha towards the new roundabout on the flyover. To go in the opposite direction you have to use the underpass and encounter the railway crossings which slightly defeats the purpose in my opinion. This particular flyover also has 2 lanes, which means it could have been designed for two way traffic, but traffic on both lanes only flow in one direction.
