DRIVING THE NEWLY RE-OPENED ROADS OF COLOMBO 1 | SRI LANKA | PRESIDENT'S HOUSE | FORT | BINAURAL

On the 27th of September 2024, the newly elected President Anura Kumara Dissanayake instructed the police to re-open the section of road in front of the official residence of the President to the public. This section of road had been for restricted access only for years, but now traffic can flow from the clock tower on Chatham Street, through Janadhipathi Mawatha (past President's House) and connect to Sir Baron Jayathilake Mawatha near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This section is still only opened for one way traffic, however the police have stated that soon it should be opened for two way traffic once certain government and security vehicles are cleared from the side of the road.
