This recording was inspired by a number of things: it had been on my mind; I vaguely wanted to re-record it. (There is another version of the same song on this channel). The main reason though, is because it was sung at the funeral of the beloved husband of a very dear friend. This recording differs from the earlier one in that I’m not singing to a backing track by another person or people. I created and recorded the music myself. This version is also quite raw, vocally and technically, which I don’t mind. I’m not aiming at perfection, although I do aim for high standards, but beyond that I like the authenticity and immediacy of this version, flaws and all! The song is based on Psalm 121:1-8 KJV: I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. [2] My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. [3] He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. [4] Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. [5] The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. [6] The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. [7] The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. [8] The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. I sincerely hope that it blesses you! To God be the glory. I’m indebted to the many photographers (too many to name) whose pictures I was able to use in the creation of the video. Their work can be found on unsplash.com. (I have no sponsorship, or anything to gain from mentioning this site, but I am grateful to be able to use this resource).
