Great Are You Lord (lyric video) - Andre Steele

This song was originally by Nigerian singer-songwriter Sinach. When I first heard it a couple of years ago, it quickly became a song I frequently sang because it simply directs praise and worship to God. I love the structure and arc of the song and find it uplifting, as I hope others will also. Worship is an act or attitude that cherishes, values, celebrates and adorns a person or thing with adoration and special honour and should be habitual. Many people see worship as an example of a selfish or egotistical attribute of God, but we should know that worship enriches the worshipper. Worship brings such joy! Doesn’t loving someone or doing something special for someone bring joy? (if it doesn’t, it ought to). The Bible tells me that the joy of the Lord is my strength. It tells me to rejoice in the Lord always. Rather than being a selfish attribute, I believe that God designed worship to benefit us even more than himself. God gains from us recognition, but worship gives us meaning, strength and I’d go as far to say that it gives us life – spiritual vitality, or the power to live with positive purpose and meaning. I don’t think that this is an oddly unique view, as the bible goes some way in corroborating this with statements such as, Isaiah 12:2-3 KJV Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. [3] Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. A question for you: could we sustainably relate to God in a personal and positive manner without worship? For any relationship to survive healthily it needs the oxygen of communication and the embers of love have to be stirred regularly, through the activity of a love language. I believe that worship is the believer’s love language. If you are searching for meaning and purpose, please consider the God who loves and made you, once again. As for me, I will join with the Psalmist: Psalm 34:1-4 KJV I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. [2] My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. [3] O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. [4] I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
