Introduction to guitar TAB, description of 'Vibrato Bar' and how it looks in TAB. The VIBRATO BAR is sometime called TREMELO ARM / BAR or WHAMMY BAR. In my opinion this method is quite different to all of the other ones in the TAB explanation series, for a number of reasons, so I have left it until last. Not all guitars have this facility, and some have it better than others - I will talk more about this in my next video but for now I'm focused on how to understand the TAB diagram. Usually the TAB gives us the information we need to perform the technique but - like string bending - we don't have the benefit of frets to make our pitch accurate so we need to focus on what we hear. I've shared a method that I find useful to help get the pitch correct when using this technique - this relies on hearing and remembering the pitch of fretted notes (which should always be in tune) and comparing them to the notes we hear when using the Vibrato Bar. If you happen to own a high quality guitar tuner that is very responsive and accurate you can also use that to help get your Vibrato Bar techniques in tune - I didn't cover this in the video because not everyone has such a tuner and I wanted to demonstrate methods that are as inclusive as possible regardless of how expensive your equipment is.
