NC500 on a YB100 DAY 10 - Fort William to Kilmarnock

Fat Man, Tiny Bike, Hits the NC500 ! NC500 on a YB100cc Day 10 - Bit of a sad day today - had to face the reality of leaving the Highlands and back to a degree of normality and the first leg of the 500 mile ride south. But there would be plenty of challenges ahead. The first part of the trip today I was very familiar with having brought many groups of Americans to Scotland over the years in my business. The ride out along the loch from Fort William is a pleasant one and then we have the ascent of the infamous Glencoe - infamous because of its history when 30 members and associates of Clan MacDonald were massacred by Scottish government forces for failing to pledge allegiance to the new monarchs, William III and Mary II. Its a wild and desolate place and in some ways makes me think of the moon. Rather than continue to Loch Lomond, I always take the simply gorgeous Glen Orchy, following the beautiful little river - today almost dry for lack of rain, down to Loch Awe and on to Inveraray and Loch Fyne. Inveraray is a nice little town - almost coffeeless but I managed to find one! Then on following the Loch through beautiful scenery to Hunters Quay where I crossed on the ferry to Gourock. At this point I had well and truly left the Highlands and was back on the coast, riding down to Largs which is the "seaside" town serving people of Glasgow. There could not have been more of a difference in the surroundings and scenery. The day ended quite early, luckily enough, because it was hot as hell and I had booked to stay in the Premier Inn at Kilmarnock. The feeling that "its all over" was beginning to descend on me but I had two full and eventful days ahead! ‪@RobLittleuk‬ ROUTE From Fort William to Kilmarnock - https://goo.gl/maps/7M1KyTCguhGrtYcD6 NC500 / Scottish North Coast 500 - a 500 mile loop from Inverness following the east, north and west coasts of Scotland!
