Big Ethanol Train In Thurmond, West Virginia On CSX. This Train Is Led By Union Pacific & Kansas City Southern Locomotives. RJ Corman Railroad Takes A Coal Train Back Up The Hill With 3 Locomotives After A Recent Train Derailment. Tunnel Motor Locomotives Are On This Train. We Also See A Huge Coal Train In Thurmond, West Virginia. The steam locomotive coaling tower is shown close up with some interesting information. This is Part 2 for my Thurmond, West Virginia trip. The video starts with a little information about the town and then a long coal train passing westbound on the CSX New River Line. Part 1 of this video featured Amtrak making a stop and a couple of freight trains passing by. I rode here with Scott, 1960gambit. Next, we walk across the bridge to watch RJ Corman doing some railroad switching. They recently had a derailment and were taking the last 6 cars involved in the accident back up the hill toward Pax. It is a long steep climb back up and they had 2 locomotives on the front and one on the rear. The tunnel motor units are on their last days since they will be replaced soon with newer locomotives. We got a ride about a mile up the hill by a Railfan. Alex gave us a ride to an interesting railroad crossing where we filmed the train. After that he gave us a ride back down to Thurmond so we could catch some more trains. I want to thank Alex for the ride. Without his help we could not have filmed the RJ Corman train going up the hill. After that we take a close look at the old steam locomotive coaling tower. This was built by Fairbanks Morse in 1922. We were waiting for a train being led by a Kansas City Southern locomotive. That train finally showed up and had a Union Pacific locomotive and Kansas City Southern locomotive pulling a big ethanol train eastbound. This train also had a Union Pacific locomotive on the rear as a DPU. That was one heck of a train! Listen in on 160.230 for CSX and 160.845 for RJ Corman. EOT is 452.9375 with front EOT on 457.9375. Finally, we see Chessie, Loki and the slide show. I didn't post this video right away because I made a rookie mistake. I used my back up camera on this one and had it on a wrong setting.
