Footage taken at the RWNYC in Exeter 2022. Exeter Cathedral houses a grand and boomy 72cwt ring of twelve which sound glorious outside. The bells are a mixture of founders with some bells dating back 1676, 1902, 1693, 1658 and earliest to 1618! The bells match really well, and suit the surroundings they are in. I really enjoyed the sound of these bells, though I was expecting more bass from the ringing chamber. Unfortunately after we came down, the tenor clapper decided to fall out and therefore young ringers going up could not experience the full twelve in the flesh. They rang the minor twelve and the light ten which consisted of the front ten and ten and eleven bonging behind. Still, they got a ring! The bells are quite tricky to ring due to the unpredicted tower sway and how heavy the bells are in weight bearing in mind these are the second heaviest ring of twelve. But fortunately they are very rewarding to listen to due to the excellent ringers who ring them on a day to day basis. Hear you see me ring Grandison and stand him first time which is very hard to do. Also credits to Francesco Greenslade for recording me ringing this beast of a bell! Enjoy the video!
