Most people are unhappy with where they are at financially and in this video, I share 7 things that influence this mindset that make us feel more broke than we actually are. 1. The ‘Upward’ Comparison Trap The upward comparison trap is when you compare where you are at financially to people who are doing better than you. This distorts your view of your own situation and often makes you overlook the people who are worse off than you. It is important to remember to zoom out and look at the full picture instead of only comparing yourself to people who are better off than you. 2. The ‘Island’ Comparison Trap The island comparison trap is when you compare where you are at financially to people in a very similar situation as you. For example, people in high paying industries might only compare themselves to people in that industry and feel like they are making a low income. Whereas if they compared themselves to people in different industries, they would learn that they are actually well off. 3. The ‘Fictional Reality’ Comparison Trap The fictional reality comparison trap is when you compare where you are at financially to people you see on social media, which is often fictional. When we compare ourselves to lifestyles we see on social media, it often distorts our view of what is normal. It is important to look at social media as fictional and not feel like you should be keeping up with people you see. 4. Society’s To Do List Society puts some expectations on us where we should accomplish certain things by certain ages. And I think subconsciously we all judge our progress in life by this to do list, which often makes us set unrealistic expectations on ourselves and make us feel behind in life. 5. Society’s Obsession With Growth We live in a society that is obsessed with grow and to some extent we all have to play this game of growth where there is more money to make and better positions to be had. When we work in this system, we often feel more broke than we are because we are always focused on the next thing. 6. Money As A Measuring Stick of Success Another belief society gets us to believe is that money is a measuring stick of success and the more money we make, the more successful we are in life. This often causes people to judge their self worth by their net worth. It is important to come up with other ways to measure your success in life. 7. The Never Ending Game of Money Finally, we feel so broke because money is this game that is never ending where we're constantly making money and spending money to fund our lives. We constantly have to chase money throughout our lives, which makes us feel like we will never reach enough. **Links above are affiliate links where if you click and order, I will receive a commission at no cost to you. **
