I love pulla! I grew up eating it from a young age. My first memories are of dipping my pulla into my grandma's coffee and eating it like this 😀 I think this is definitely a Finnish thing. Pulla and coffee go hand in hand in Finland. I've learned to make my pulla vegan, and no one would know unless I told them. You won't regret it! 💌 Get my newsletter, The Right Side of Fifty: https://bit.ly/3oo39f9 🌿MENTIONED IN THIS VIDEO🌿 (Links may be paid links) Cuisinart Mixer: https://bit.ly/3QwxlTv (Home Depot) https://bit.ly/3y1GLzH (Williams-Sonoma) Cardamom: https://amzn.to/3JMQfBv (Amazon) FinnGoods (online store of Nordic goods: https://www.finngoods.com/ PULLA RECIPE 16 grams (1.5 teaspoons) dry yeast 500 ml tepid almond milk 1 tsp salt 2 dl (200 ml) sugar 1 - 2 tablespoons (15 - 30 ml) cardamom 14 - 15 dl (1400 ml - 1500 ml) regular flour 150 gram vegan butter TOPPING 2 tablespoons almond milk 1tablespoon maple syrup Pearl sugar Almond slivers (optional) Add yeast to lukewarm almond milk. Mix in salt, sugar and cardamom. Start adding flour and mix with a wooden spoon or electric mixer. When half or more has been added pour melted vegan butter into mix and keep adding remainder of flour. If mixing with wooden spoon switch to using hand kneading. Knead for several minutes until dough is smooth and doesn't stick to your hands. If using electric mixer keep kneading until dough is smooth and comes off hook easily. Let dough rest until it doubles in size in a warm area. When dough has doubled in size (usually takes about 1 hour) punch it down and knead for a minute. Divide into 4 equal pieces. Each of the 4 pieices divide into 3 pieces. Roll out the 3 pieces into equal lengths and braid together to form a loaf. Let loaves rest again for 30 - 60 minutes. Once risen again. Mix almond milk with maple syrup. Brush tops of loaves with the mixture. Sprinkle with pearl sugar and almond slivers. Bake for approximately 20 - 25 minutes in a 350 degree F. oven until golden brown and baked through. Cook on cooling rack before cutting.
