A Masterpiece of Scandinavian and Japanese Architecture with Solar-Powered Comfort

In this video, we take a closer look at the Towradgi House, a beautiful blend of Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese elegance, designed by Alex Urena Design Studio. Located in Towradgi, Australia, this 245 m² home revolves around a central courtyard that serves as the heart of the house, offering natural light, airflow, and a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The house features a stunning combination of concrete floors, recycled hardwood elements, and white clean lines for the interior, while the exterior is clad in deep charred black timber, recycled hardwood, and expansive windows. These elements come together to create a tranquil and timeless atmosphere that enhances the natural surroundings. Eco-friendly technologies are at the core of the home’s design. Solar panels, a Tesla battery with an electric car charging dock, and in-slab heating powered by solar energy ensure sustainability and comfort throughout the year. Additionally, the house maximizes airflow with powered louvers, while the elevated rear terrace seamlessly blends into the yard with gallery stairs. Join us as we explore how this house uniquely merges Scandinavian and Japanese architectural influences, creating a sustainable, serene, and functional living space.
