JULY AGENDA An Interview with Colleen Hammersley Curtin of DataWaves and Kiza Solutions The latest in our continuing series of interviews with veteran FileMaker developers who have contributed to the health and vitality of our community. Colleen will be with us to share her path to FileMaker expertise and the development of her career. She’ll talk a little bit about the origins and evolution of the Separation Model, which she and others helped to develop and disseminate back in the day. There may be discussions of boating on the Great Lakes as well. We’ll have to see. Josh Ormond - Coding with Clarity: the Role of Expressiveness and Documentation Join Josh Ormond of CityTech Solutions, as he dives into the art and opinions of writing clear code, focusing on the vital role of expressiveness in our daily development activities. Together, we'll explore ways to enhance code readability, maintainability, and understanding through easy yet impactful concepts that are simple to apply to your ongoing projects. He'll also chat about finding the right blend of expressiveness, aiming for robust, readable, and elegant code. Lastly, if time permits, we'll open up a dialogue about how to recognize when perhaps we've taken things too far. Rick Kalman - Whither Goest FileMaker? Rick Kalman, a Director within Claris Product Management, will be with us to present a high-level overview of the just-released FileMaker 2024. He'll deliver a director's level view of new features in 2024, and talk about how those features fit into the development of the FileMaker platform as a whole. As a group we're vitally interested in what the future of the FileMaker platform looks like, and very few have a better strategic perspective of planned progress than Rick.
