All of us are volunteers and if you'd like to help support the (drinking) effort here's our Patreon:   / drunkscienceshow   About the Speakers: Hannalore Gerling-Dunsmore is a PhD student at CU Boulder, studying how the supermassive black holes at the centers of galaxies grow. In addition to research, Hannalore is an active organizer in her union, CWA Local 7799. She is passionate about academic labor organizing and building an equitable academic community through solidarity and collective action. Hannalore also does all things sci-comm, from starring in popular Netflix documentary ‘Behind the Curve’, to appearing on podcasts such as Titanium Physicists, to volunteering with Astronomy on Tap. Sarafina Nance is an astrophysicist at UC Berkeley studying supernovae from both an observational and theoretical perspective. Her background is in determining when Betelgeuse will explode, exploring asteroseismology in red giants, and using core-collapse supernovae for cosmology to measure the Hubble constant. She also works with high-performance computing to study variable stars and model the progenitors of supernovae. When not doing astrophysics, she focuses on advocating for women's health from her perspective as a BRCA2 previvor. Imogene Cancellare is a conservation biologist and National Geographic Explorer who conducts research on rare and elusive wildlife. Her background is in landscape and conservation genetics, population ecology, and wildlife management, primarily with carnivores and amphibians. Imogene is currently a PhD student at the University of Delaware, where she is working with Panthera to research the phylogeography and genetic structure of snow leopards across High Asia. As a science communicator and presenter, Imogene engages with the public by sharing information on natural history, conservation, and her field adventures.
