Drunk Science: Episode 3 (with Susanna L Harris)

Join us as we drink and talk about all things science. About the Speakers: Susanna L Harris is a PhD candidate at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she studies how communities of bacteria colonize plants to increase crop growth. Susanna founded PhD Balance to break the stigma around mental illness in higher education and create spaces where grad students can have open conversations around the challenges we face. Susanna hosts and presents public speaking events about mental health, academic support, and science communication. Sarafina Nance is an astrophysicist at UC Berkeley studying supernovae from both an observational and theoretical perspective. Her background is in determining when Betelgeuse will explode, exploring asteroseismology in red giants, and using core-collapse supernovae for cosmology to measure the Hubble constant. She also works with high performance computing to study variable stars and model the progenitors of supernovae. When not doing astrophysics, she focuses on advocating for women's health from her perspective as a BRCA2 previvor. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Speaker Socials (Twitter, Instagram, etc.): Susanna Harris - @SusannaLHarris Sarafina Nance - @starstrickenSF Guest YouTube: Susanna Harris -    / @susannalharris   Speaker Websites: Susanna Harris - https://susannalharris.com// Sarafina Nance - https://starafina.com/ Moderators: Rebecca Larson - @saturnswings, https://saturnswings.github.io/ Dr. Teresa Swanson - @SciSwany Resources: https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ https://www.mentalhealth.gov/ https://www.samhsa.gov/find-help/nati...
