I have played around with Jacquard Acid dyes a few times now, but it was time to see what would happen when we attempted to space dye some 100% wool roving http://shrsl.com/qyts with these dyes. (KnitPicks Affiliate Link) In this video, I took 5 colors of Jacquard acid dyes (Sky Blue, Sun Yellow, Silver Grey, Pink, and Violet) and mixed them together to create a palette of blues, purples, pinks and greens. With a turkey basting syringe, we added the dyes in short sections to the dyepot to see how the colors would spread. Thank you, Marilyn New, for sponsoring this video! Video Contents: [0:00] Introduction and presoaking the roving. 6 cups of tap water + 2 T white vinegar [2:03] Mixing the dyes. We mixed up some of Jacquard Acid dyes in Sky Blue, Pink, Violet, Sun Yellow, and Silver Grey [9:47] Adding the dyes to the roving [16:41] 5 min after we finished adding the dyes. Pushing down the fiber a bit to move around some of the dyes. [18:01] After another 10 min. turn off the heat and let the roving cool down in the pot.
