Since I just started playing with Jacquard acid dyes, I wanted to take a step back to my dyeing roots and dye some Lion Brand Wool Ease yarn http://shrsl.com/s3r0 (Affiliate Link). For this video, I could only get my hands on the Thick and Quick version versus the worsted weight I started with, but I decided to give it a go with this 80% acyrlic / 20% wool blend. I space dyed this yarn with some Jacquard acid dyes I mixed for Dyepot Weekly #28: • Dyepot Weekly #28 - Dyeing Stripes Wi... We had dye left over in the pot, so I decided to dip dye some 100% wool (Wool of the Andes Worsted http://shrsl.com/s3r1 - KnitPicks Affiliate Link) in the remaining dye. Video contents: [0:00] Introduction. The yarn was presoaked in plain tap water [1:17] Setting up the dyepot. ~1" of water + 3 T white vinegar. Add the presoaked yarn to the pot and increase the water level so it is just barely covered. Start heating up the dyepot [3:13] Adding the jacquard acid dyes to the pot (1% stock solutions mixed from the following video • Dyepot Weekly #28 - Dyeing Stripes Wi... ) [7:24] 20 min after adding the dye, removing the yarn from the pot [9:52] Dip dying 100 g of 100% worsted weight wool yarn in the leftover dye (it will be a really nice comparison!) The yarn has been "pre wet" by running it under a tap but not exactly presoked since this is an impromptu addition to the episode. [12:25] 5 min after dip dyeing the yarn, turning off the heat and letting the yarn cool in the pot.
