Pesky 3-y-o's & four for fun!

For our hard of hearing members please find the text of the Podcast below. I have mentioned in Newsletters this week how poor the racing is during the week following a Festival, and this week has certainly bolstered that argument! We are now approaching the last month of the flat season for me, a switch to NH Racing coming in 33 days….October 1st we pull the plug on flat racing and it’s my preferred code then until the end of March. I cannot wait to get stuck into it. I now start re-dressing the itscheltenham.com website, prepping for the 2024-2025 NH season and looking back to May 1st to produce a stats analysis for certain things, plus, those handicaps run since the end of Royal Ascot and how we manage the 3-y-o’s in 2025. The apparent dominance of 3-y-o’s in all aged handicaps has really caught my eye this season. It might be I’m seeing what I want to see, which is why I need to go back to the very first day after Royal Ascot, and check every single Rated race for actual evidence. If I do not find it, I’ll tell you straight away but, if you look at just those Rated races from last Saturday, 24th August, up until yesterday, we see I produced seven Rated on Saturday, six of which were won by 3-y-o’s. On Sunday I had three Rated races, none won by 3-y-o’s, Monday saw a further three Rated races, one of which was won by a 3-y-o, and yesterday, two Rated races, one won by a 3-y-o. That’s 15 Rated races since Saturday, eight won by the younger horses. I’m sure the Newsletter will make for very interesting reading. FOUR FOR FUN Yesterday I had intended mentioning just one horse in a Podcast….apologies for not being here….and in it went @ 5/1. That’s called Sod’s Law. Today I thought I’d go four for fun…. • STAPLEFORD PARK (Catterick 2-15) • ALICE’S IMPACT (Catterick 3-15) • ANTONIN DVORAK (Musselburgh 2-30) • ETERNAL SUNRISE (Musselburgh 5-05) Do whatever you like with those, and the very best of luck. Back tomorrow with more racing and a little football. See ya!
