"Mugi To Heitai" (Wheat and Soldiers) was written in 1938 and is about the march of the Japanese towards the Chinese city of Xuzhou, where a battle took place that hardly anyone remembers, but is immortalised in this song that is widely known in Japan and has been performed many times by different artists. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_... Translation is by me. This is the only real translation of this song into English that I am aware of, so I am happy for it to be at least among the first. Notes: The first verse is quite obscure and difficult to translate, but is a reference to a folk song called "Sado Okesa" where the wife asks her husband whether the place they are to move to, the island of Sado, is a good place to live in. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sado_Okesa As usual, I stress that no political expression is meant, and that this is a historical document that I have tried to recreate. Should you like it, please like and subscribe. I will make more. Edit Note: I reuploaded it with full screen video and a slightly improved translation. This is a beautiful song and it deserves a better job than my first upload.
