IL 2 Battle of Normandy Overlord "Backed into a Corner" 4K

Half a kill laddie - No maps, no stats and no idle chit chat - just action Mission 7 of the Normandy Overlord scripted campaign. I described this mission in a previous video description as "Epic" and it certainly was. We were tasked with providing air cover for a flight of P - 47s that were to bomb a German position on the North - West corner of the Cherbourg Peninsular. On the way there we bumped into some German interceptors in Fw 190s that we dealt with quickly and then we covered the Thunderbolts as they went about their business. After that we were instructed to carry on patrolling further South. Again, we met opposition in the form of 4 very feisty 190s who totally rampaged through our Mustangs. Planes went down one after another, but eventually we took care of the enemy, but at heavy cost. To show how deadly those 190s were, I've added a bit of footage at the end of the video of my previous attempt at the mission, it didn't end well for me and it made me extra cautious during the second attempt. This game can be brutal, sometimes you fly for a long period over quite lengthy routes and if you stuff up, the prospect of starting again from the beginning can be daunting. Just the other night I had to fly a mission 3 times, I almost lost my mind because I had racked up a score of kills in the first attempt and then got brought down whilst doing something unnecessary. I really hope you enjoy the footage, there's a couple of clips I'm not happy with regarding quality because it was a really gloomy day, ominous low dark clouds making the lighting very dull, which plays havoc sometimes with pixilation. But on the whole, it's a cool video of a very cool mission.
