He helped create the hip hop group called the Diplomats, also known as Dipset, in 1997 with his friend Cam'ron from Harlem. After the Diplomats' first album Diplomatic Immunity did well in 2003, Jones released his own solo album, On My Way to Church, in 2004, which did moderately well. His next two albums, Harlem: Diary of a Summer in 2005 and Hustler's P.O.M.E. (Product of My Environment) in 2006, both reached the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart.
