Fishing a new mark on the River Usk, Newport

After discovering the new access point down to the river on Monkey Island, Newport, I just had to head there on the e-bike to give it a try. It also gave me the chance to try the new jighead hooks with a spinner. A really nice spot for fishing in Newport. There is a bit of a slope from the new access point but nothing too difficult for pushing the e-bike down and up. It was an 11.5m tide today so the path on the bank was pretty much next to the water. I think on most tides this mark will be very fishable and only on the highest tides could there be a problem with flooded paths. Even though it's pretty grassy around the mark these new jighead hooks coped going through the grass without too much of a problem. Could be my new regular fishing spot in Newport until Coronation Park re-opens next year. While the new clearance has made access to the river much easier, it is still, sadly, not wheelchair accessible. It would be so good to get some disabled platforms and accessible paths down to the river somewhere in Newport on the River Usk.
