L&N 648 Heading To Tracy City TN Early Fall 1970s

Hello and welcome to another imaginary trip, via Train Simulator Classic, back in time to Cowan, Tennessee and the Tracy City Branch of the Louisville and Nashville. Known as the "Mountain Goat" line, the branch was a vital link in the transportation of coal, timber and passengers from the rural communities of Grundy County. Today's fantasy trip back in time sees the branch train number 648 making up its train in Cowan yards before heading up the branch and over the tunnel. It is assumed to be the mid 70's as the traffic is up in a coal boom. By late 1978 that was over and traffic was on the decline until the lines eventual abandonment in 1986. Today the Mountain Goat Trail Alliance is working to create a walking and bike trail to connect the communities along the old branch. This simulation is created in Dovetail Games, Train Simulator Classic and is a work in progress.
