L&N Cowan to Sherwood Tennessee 1975

Hello friends, Step into the "WABAC" (way back) machine with Mr. Peabody and I to 1975..... certainly a simpler time for us "boomers", OKAY? I have produced a short video depicting the L&N Railroad between Cowan and Sherwood, Tennessee. It includes the Cumberland Mountain Tunnel and Cowan Pusher District. I have been creating this in Dovetail Games Train Simulator 2021. The route is a work in progress with some scenery completed and other areas awaiting full attention. The L&N was entering a coal boom in the mid 1970s as the South's economy was beginning to really grow and the power plants in all the southern states had a hungry appetite for coal. The L&N was running everything they had from 60 to 100 ton hoppers and borrowing power from its fellow Family Lines railroads and others. By the mid seventies, the L&N's Alcos had all congregated in Eastern Kentucky and the big EMD's and GE's handled the coal from western Kentucky to the south. I believe 1975 was the last year for an F7 on the L&N as they had been relegated to locals and mine runs, what few were left. Learn more about Train Simulator and join the fun.
