Steam & Electric Trains Parallel Runs! Steamrail "Welcome Back Red Rattlers" Tour

On the 3rd July 2022 Steamrail Victoria welcomed back the Tait electric multiple units in style; holding a series of parallel runs around Melbourne with steam locomotives K100 & K183. The day consisted of two parallel runs; one from North Melbourne & Flinders Street to Box Hill and return, then from Flinders Street to Sunshine and return. The Tait also operated various shuttle trips between Lilydale and Ringwood, while the steam train also operated some trips along the Belgrave/Lilydale Lines while preparing for the parallel runs. In this video we see the events throughout the day, starting at North Melbourne where we see both trains arrive for the start of the first parallel run. Onboard the Tait we then see some snippets of the first parallel run of the day towards Box Hill. Afterwards we see both the Tait and the steam train at various locations along the Belgrave/Lilydale Lines while conducting various shuttle and transfer trips. We then see the second parallel run towards Flinders Street at East Camberwell, before moving to Tottenham on the Sunbury Line for the third parallel run towards Sunshine, before both trains subsequently headed to Calder Park. We see the return fourth parallel run at Middle Footscray. We finish up at Seddon on the Werribee/Williamstown Lines where we see both trains transfer empty back towards the Newport Workshops.
