Trains at Bentleigh - Metro Trains Melbourne

In this video we visit Bentleigh, a station on the Frankston Line in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs. The last time I filmed at Bentleigh was the day the new station opened back in 2016, but seeing I was in the area I decided to use the opportunity to film a new video. We visit the station on a Sunday morning where we see a good variety of different Metro trains including Comeng, Siemens, and X'trapolis trains. On this particular day Steamrail Victoria were operating steam shuttles between Glen Huntly and Mordiallic with steam locomotive K190 and the Tait EMU. We see the heritage train pass through the station twice on its trips towards Mordialloc and Glen Huntly. Bentleigh station opened on the 19th December 1881 as East Brighton, before it was renamed to Bentleigh on the 1st May 1907. The station and the suburb were named after former Victorian Premiere Sir Thomas Bent, who he himself actually approved of the construction of the railway from Caulfield to Cheltenham through Bentleigh while he was Commissioner of the railways between 1881–1883 (mostly to serve his own property interests in Bentleigh; quite corrupt but I think we're all grateful for the railway line). The station was rebuilt in 1987 when the third line between Caulfield and Moorabbin was constructed to allow for express trains to overtake stopping trains during peak hour. You can see my video of the old Bentleigh station here:    • Morning peak hour at Bentleigh - Metr...   Bentleigh station along with nearby Ormond and McKinnon stations were rebuilt in 2016 as part of a large grade separation project to remove three level crossings on the line. Bentleigh was rebuilt to remove the Centre Road level crossing, with the new station opening on the 29th August 2016.
