You might be wondering how paying over a one chord vamp could help you play over changes..? Well, as I mention in the video, when a lot of people get into trying to learn jazz, they jump straight to trying to play a blues, or some other 'easy' tune whey you have to change chord every bar or two. This is fine, but I found it left me feeling like I was never really inside the harmony of the music. The truth is, that while I'd been playing over simple one chord vamps, and other basic diatonic progressions, I had never been too aware of which notes I was playing, and how they fit into the harmony. So I feel that the first step to being able to play over changes is to learn more about one chord, then work through alternating two chords, three chords (the infamous ii - V - I finally..!), then to more involved progressions.
