At first glance, jazz can seem extremely complicated. And while I'd agree that there is a vast amount to it, I don't there is any reason not to approach it in a simple, straight forward way... This lesson is aimed at a beginner to the world of jazz guitar, but this information is applicable to any instrument, and is worth keeping mind at any stage of the musical journey. In fact, I need to keep reminding myself of these things on a daily basis..! Most of the more advanced concepts that are used in jazz are actually simple things applied in different ways to obtain unusual effects. I firmly believe that without a firm grasp of the fundamentals and basics of the language of music (and of the jazz style in particular), it can be very hard to do these things convincingly.
