Exploring Bintulu - Malaysian Borneo. Trying to find Culture and History!

I've made a stop in Bintulu, located on the western side of Malaysian Borneo, to break up what would have been a grueling 16-hour bus journey. Though Bintulu isn’t known as a tourist hotspot, it’s clear that development is underway as the state council is investing in expanding the city. With only one night to explore, I started at the esplanade (a local recommendation from the internet) and set off to see what the city had to offer. After stopping at a cozy cafe, I enjoyed a delicious lamb curry (not too spicy!) and got chatting with the friendly waitress. She suggested I check out the Corridor of Culture, a square filled with art that depicts the rich history of the local tribes. While Bintulu may not be a typical tourist destination, it was an interesting place to visit for a night. #bintulu #borneo #backpacking I am an older backpacker travelling the world proving that backpacking is not just for the younger generation.
