Indonesian Travel Day - Yogyakarta to Semarang

Today was one of those strange travel days where I had no idea where I was going! I woke up knowing I wanted to head towards Jakarta, but I wasn’t feeling up for the 8-hour train journey. Although I had looked at a few potential cities and towns, I still couldn’t decide where to go. So, I headed to the train station and left it up to fate—or rather, the ticket office! I asked them to pick a "nice place" on the way to Jakarta with a train leaving soon. Within an hour, I found myself on a train to Semarang—a city I knew very little about! After checking the map, I realized I wasn’t actually heading towards Jakarta at all—I was going north instead! There might have been some confusion in translation, but hey, that’s part of the adventure, right? I booked my hotel while on the train, and now I’m here in Semarang for 2 nights.
