Kodumal Asoodani (Kotri) - Sindh partition story

Name: Kodumal Asoodani (s/o Narumal Asoodani ) Born in 1937, Kotri. Came to Jaipur, India via Hyderabad, Pakistan. Currently settled in Hyderabad, India. His father, Narumal, had a dairy shop there - selling Milk and milk based products. Narumal had got the shop from his Mama who was called Goriyo because of his fair color. During partition they didn't face any untoward incident in their area and all their neighbors advised them against leaving. When his father Narumal Asudani and family were leaving Sindh, local leader of the area - Pir Shah - a Muslim leader - came to persuade them against leaving. They left in the night since in the daytime no one would let them leave(out of love). They called a bullock cart owner Ismail discreetly and asked him to come in night so that they could leave for Hyderabad with all their luggage in night without creating much of a scene. After spending 6 months in Jaipur, his father with 2 of his brothers went back to Pakistan leaving their family behind in India. They still had their house there, though they had sold the shop before leaving to a Bengali Muslim. He again employed them in the same shop. Narumal Asudani had to be called back to Jaipur through a letter on the pretext of mother's illness. Then he stayed back in Jaipur. But two of his brothers lived and died in Kotri. They didn't return again. When they were in Jaipur, Narumal's friend Anwar from Kotri, Sindh came to meet him. He brought 3 Pallav fish with him - each weighing 6 kg. All of them had a hearty meal that night. There were many letters exchanged back and forth between Narumal's Family and their friends back there in Sindh. They had good relations overall. In Jaipur, they were in a refugee camp in Sanganer. After a while someone burnt their huts(kuchha houses).
