The youngest of the famous basketball Ball brothers from Chino Hills, who at 16 years old has his own signature shoe, left Chino Hills High School and the Huskies basketball team this week. The No. 7-ranked Class of 2019 high school point guard by ESPN, is going to be homeschooled and trained to become “the best basketball player ever”, according to his father, LaVar Ball. LaMelo will continue to play for his Big Ballers AAU travel team, coached by his father. “Next time you see LaMelo on the court is next spring in travel ball,” LaVar Ball told reporters on Monday. In his two seasons at Chino Hills, LaMelo averaged 21.5 points per game (1,441 points in 67 games) and with his older brothers—Lonzo and LiAngelo— helped the Huskies capture the 2015-16 CIF State Open Division championship with a 35-0 record. Lonzo Ball was the Lakers’ top draft pick in the June 22 NBA Draft and LiAngelo Ball is a freshman basketball player at UCLA. LaMelo won his first 60 high school games at Chino Hills, and one game after the streak was snapped, scored 92 points in a 146-123 win over Los Osos High. He dedicated his performance to classmate Lexi Anderson, who underwent heart transplant surgery.
