According to legend it was the fairy Melusine who constructed the mighty towers of Coudray-Salbart. Historical and archaeological research shows us that this medieval fortress was actually built by the lords of Parthenay in the 13th century. It resulted in a state-of-the-art medieval fortress with very unique features such as corridors inside the walls and almond-shaped towers. As the castle was never altered after its initial construction we can still enjoy this 13th century masterpiece in its original form today.
